HIGH-QUALITY ROPE AND BRAIDED TEXTILES MADE OF PLASTIC WASTE

We support partner organisations, led by #tide ocean SA, in their efforts to collect plastic waste from the sea and process this raw material into high-quality rope made of recycled plastics. Raw-material preparation, further processing of the granulate into yarn and the braiding of the ropes all take place in Switzerland.

Every time you buy an OceanYarn® product, you are supporting the clean-up of our oceans. One thousand Swiss francs from every metric ton of recycled-waste products that we sell go to our partner organisations. These organisations, which collect plastic waste from the seas locally, are committed to preserving the marine habitat.

THE PROBLEM

PLASTIC WASTE IN THE SEA

The amount of plastic waste in the oceans has grown to frightening levels. Millions of tons of plastic bottles, bags and packaging materials drift around the oceans before settling on the seabed. They threaten both wildlife and the livelihoods of coastal peoples.

We need to move. Right now. It is not too late to turn our oceans back into clean habitats. OceanYarn® lets us make a joint contribution to this.

THE SOLUTION

UPCYCLING INSTEAD OF INCINERATION

The recycling of plastic waste is much more sustainable than its incineration. We know, from the existing recycling of PET, that we can also process plastic waste from the oceans. This relieves the burden on the seas and turns the raw material into a high-quality product, as an alternative to incineration.

THE PRODUCT

FROM PLASTIC WASTE TO PREMIUM RECYCLING PRODUCT

Working together with our partners, we control the supply chain of OceanYarn® products right down to the last detail; all the way from the fishermen who harvest the plastic waste, through to granule production and the sustainable methods used to create the final product. This lets us guarantee that everyone who buys OceanYarn® products made from #tide ocean material® will be making a real contribution to cleaner oceans and a more-sustainable world economy.
